New project! This time I decided to try something a little bit more challenging… This is my first time using 18 count Aida which is not plain white, it’s ivory. It’s supposed to be 17 cm x 12 cm. The only difference I can tell so far is the size: a lot more stitches but a lot smaller, so my feeling of achieving is also smaller, sadly 😦 oh! The needle is also smaller, and fragile, I hope I don’t break it!
Looks like I’m finally getting somewhere… The good thing is that it’s mostly half stitch, so at least it’s a bit faster than normal… The bad thing is that it’s so easy to mess up!
This is taking longer than I thought…
And this is Merlin. We had a lot of problems with him. He was found in a bush of a park with a few days old. We saw him after he opened his eyes and we knew he was for us. He was at the vet with another kitten and when they were playing the other cat bit his pride tearing his urethra. They operated on him and we had to wait since we hadn’t adopted him yet! Since the vet knows us, she let us take him as fostering… And since he had problems doing a number 1, he had another operation. And yet another one! We were worried sick! But he’s a fighter!
Btw, this is Alan, my other half.
I introduce you to my crazy yet charming gremlins. they’re both adopted from the animal welfare and we’ve raised them to be spoilt rotten, I’m afraid.
This is Salem, our little princess. She can be very affectionate when she wants to. We adopted her first. Sadly, the animal welfare girl told me she was surprised we chose her because apparently it’s quite common for people to dislike black cats, so they’re not usually easily adopted … We’ve never regretted her adoption; she’s our little sunshine!!
And that’s her impression of a meerkat! Isn’t she sweet?
New kit! I go back to cats, I guess it’s my favourite theme! Its name is bath time, by bucilla. Note to self: never get another kit where the thread hasn’t been presorted! However, I think this is trickier than my first cat… Middle cross stitches and all… Let’s see how it turns out! Happy stitching!
Note to self: starting with black and charcoal may be confusing; not my brightest idea.
Here we go! Second cross stitch endeavour… This is supposed to be Counted Cross Stitch for Dummies where they show you how to do all the basic stitches, including the cross stitch, the half cross stitch, the back stitch and the French knot.
This time I’m also learning how to do a neat job for the back side… It’s more challenging than I thought! Good thing that I’m getting some help!
Btw, this is my beloved Salem, always willing to help…
My other half has decided to work on two cross stitching kits at once, so I’ll have a fair share of publishing! I have to say it looks lovely, I’m absolutely loving it. However I have no idea which one I prefer!! This one is called “Cats, cats, cats”. Happy stitching!
He’s added an extra ‘S’ because we’re going to hang it and tbh we have two cats, so we considered a change was in order!
My other half is also into cross stitching, only he dares to try more complicated works… So here’s his first big project! Tiger cubs on the moon 🙂
I’m going to start a blog on my cross stitching crafts… so hope you enjoy it. This is my first craft, so it’s a bit messy, but I think it could always be worse…
It has loads of mistakes and you should see the back of it, but hey, considering I ran out of thread with some colours, for my first kit I’m quite proud! Happy stitching!!
